Bright Spots Winner: Shaitah Xiong

Meet Shaitah Xiong, a trailblazer in enhancing efficiency with Internal Monitoring. When a colleague left, taking with them key knowledge of Internal Monitoring, Shaitah Xiong didn’t hesitate—she dove in headfirst. Despite her initial unfamiliarity with the process, Shaitah embraced the challenge, learning as she went. She studied the needs of her agency and the functionality of the software. Using the Learning Library, customer support chat, and her own problem-solving skills, she was able to piece everything together.

Developing a Training Tool

With the help of Education Coordinator Lorena Davis, Shaitah developed a training guide to support staff. “It was really learning as I was doing,” Shaitah admitted. But that hands-on approach paid off, as she equipped the team with the tools needed to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Enhancing Efficiency with Digital Tools

Advancements with internal monitoring proved extremely helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic. With internal monitoring checklists staff could continue to track services and carry out file reviews, ensuring follow-ups were completed on time. Associated reports produced real-time insights into compliance, helping educators stay on top of assessments and deadlines. As the agency continues to move towards ChildPlus Online, they have adopted other tools such as the Family Pre-application and the To-Do List, both of which have streamlined enrollment and monitoring.

Navigating the Shift to ChildPlus Online

While the agency is gradually moving towards ChildPlus Online, the transition hasn’t been immediate. The data team continues to use the desktop version, while new specialists are trained directly in the online system
