2025 Software Update Policy
Purpose
This policy outlines the approach and procedures for software updates to ensure system reliability, security, and optimal performance while minimizing disruptions for users.
Scope
This policy applies to all software applications, systems, and platforms maintained and operated by ChildPlus.
Update Types and Notification Procedures
Small Releases (Minor Updates & Patches)
- Small releases include security patches, bug fixes, and minor performance improvements.
- These updates will be deployed as needed without prior notification.
- Users will receive a notification summarizing updates after the update has been deployed.
Large Feature Releases (Major Updates & Enhancements)
- Large releases include significant new features, system enhancements, or major architectural changes.
- Users will receive prior notification, including details of the update and any necessary preparation steps.
- The notification will be sent in advance to allow users to adapt to the changes.
Update Frequency
- There will be multiple updates throughout the year to maintain security, stability, and functionality.
- Updates will be scheduled to minimize impact on users and business operations.
Post-Update Communication
- Following an update, a summary of changes will be communicated to users on the Monday after a Saturday update.
- The most recent changes will always be listed in the Help Center at this link: https://www.app.childplus.com/help/100
- For major updates, additional resources such as documentation and training will be provided.
Exceptions & Special Cases
- In urgent situations (e.g., critical security patches), updates may be deployed immediately without prior notification.
- ChildPlus reserves the right to modify this policy as needed to align with operational requirements.
VPN Agencies
- VPN clients require additional preparation time for database schema changes and testing.
- An email notification will be sent two weeks before updates that affect database schemas.
- The advance notice email will be sent at the time other databases are updated.
- This advance notice allows VPN clients to update and test schema changes in their DevTest databases.
- VPN clients are responsible for ensuring the continued functionality of their custom processes and scripts.
