The Crucial Role of Attendance
Attendance is vital in a child’s developmental process and a powerful predictor of participant outcome. Consistency allows the child to receive uninterrupted high-quality learning experiences, build their socio-emotional skills, and increase their likelihood of benefiting from the program. Missing a day or two may not seem like much, but many families do not realize how quickly a few days can turn into chronic absenteeism. It’s not only about the individual education of each child but also about fostering a sense of community that ignites a supportive environment where all participants feel valued and included.
Beyond the walls of a classroom, attendance also allows staff to connect with parents and maintain strong communication between the families and educators. Parents are key players in their child’s development. Staff provides them with the support and resources to encourage robust parental involvement, opportunities to participate in their child’s learning, and access to resources and services that benefit the entire family. Although each child is monitored and assessed individually, together we move as one, carving the path to success.
Educational inequality is a harsh reality, and our goal is to level the playing field. The rippling effects of attendance reach past the classroom and into the homes of participants. Regular attendance allows participants to not only create a meaningful relationship with peers and educators but also allow staff to monitor health and nutrition, consider important environmental factors in their growth, and promptly address any concerns or issues that may arise. Each child and their situation are unique, and with good attendance, they can receive the highest level of education designed specifically for them.
With the new all-in-one Attendance module, collection of charts within the Performance Panel and variety of attendance reports ChildPlus makes it easy to identify attendance concerns and to determine the efficacy of consistent participation. We also offer custom on-site training for programs that wish to improve attendance tracking and monitoring. A ChildPlus instructor is able to tailor the training to fit your agency’s processes and workflows. If you are interested in this level of support, browse through our sample agendas or speak with an advisor to build your own. On-site training is offered through Learning Plans. Subscribing to a learning plan will not only include custom training but will grant you access to 8 Live Group Webinars including this month’s webinar covering attendance.
As we celebrate the power of attendance in a classroom, we want to provide the tools to shape each child’s day into an amazing tomorrow. In the grand symphony of education, attendance is not just a beat, but a rhythm of possibility and hope, promising a brighter future.
